Mountain Brook police made two weapons-related arrests last week.

One arrest and weapons charge occurred on U.S. 280 at Pumphouse Road. On Jan. 21, officers arrested an individual who provided false identification to law enforcement officers. Police also found items in the vehicle which helped solve a theft case in Hoover.

The other arrest occurred following a traffic stop on Jan. 23. The suspect did not have a permit and had multiple weapons in his possession, according to police. The traffic stop occurred at Bethune Drive at Mill Run Road.

A burglary was reported on Jan. 24 in the 3400 block of Oak Canyon Drive. The burglary occurred around 3:15 a.m., and about three hours later, officers noticed a suspicious vehicle trying to leave the area. The officers stopped the vehicle and determined the occupants were involved in the burglary.

Warrants were signed on Jan. 25, charging Birmingham resident Paul John Hardy and Montgomery resident Bobby Earl Townsend with third degree burglary and first degree theft.

Two property thefts were reported, including two suspects shoplifting at Brookwood Village on Jan. 22. The other theft occurred on Jan. 20, when narcotics were stolen from a pharmacy delivery in the 3100 block of Overton Road.

A hit and run was reported on Jan. 22 around 12:45 p.m. The incident occurred on U.S. 280 at Green Valley Road, when a gold SUV hit another car and fled the scene.

On Jan. 23, a vehicle left the road in the 700 block of Euclid Avenue. The vehicle damaged landscaping, a street sign and a power pole guide wire. Officers arrested the driver and charged them with DUI.

Police also sent a reminder about an upcoming presentation on identity theft in the community update. The presentation will cover preventing and dealing identity theft. It will be Feb. 2 and Feb. 18 at 6 p.m. at the Mountain Brook Board of Education. The room will hold about 80 people.
