UAB finance professor to lead inaugural '$mart Directions @ Emmet O’Neal Library' presentation

The first of several “$mart Directions @ Emmet O’Neal Library” presentations will kickoff Thursday, Nov. 5 featuring Andreas Rauterkus, Ph.D., an Associate Professor in Accounting and Business at the UAB Collat School of Business.

Rauterkus, who earned his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Cincinnati, will give a presentation on the role of the banking system. According to a news release about the event, Rauterkus will share tips on how to better understand the structure and role of the banking system, as well as the roles of the Federal Reserve and the FDIC.

According to the release, Rauterkus also holds a M.B.A. from East Carolina University and an undergraduate/graduate degree in Finance and Banking from J.W. Goethe University in his native Frankfurt/Main, Germany. Rauterkus has previously taught at Louisiana State University and Siena College in Loudonville, NY.

Doors to the Library Meeting Room at Emmet O’Neal Library will open at 6 p.m. A light meal will be served before Rauterkus begins his talk at 6:30 p.m. The series will be recorded and available through the Emmet O’Neal library’s website or on DVD for those that are unable to attend the presentation.

The “$mart Directions @ Emmet O’Neal Library” presentations are seminar-style programs on personal finance and investing. The program, according to the release, is made possible by a grant from the FINRA Investor Education Foundation through Smart investing@your library®, a partnership with the American Library Association.
