Zoo to hold Fun Days

The Birmingham Zoo is planning Zoo Fun Days for three upcoming weekends. Admission will be $5 on July 25-26, Aug. 1-2 and Aug. 8-9.

Visitors can see the American black bears or feed the lorikeets (birds) in the newly renovated Aviary, and take a ride on the Safari Zipline Adventure powered by Red Mountain Park. 

Throughout Zoo Fun Days, visitors can also learn how the Birmingham Zoo uses animal enrichment activities to encourage natural behaviors displayed in the wild. For instance, guests will be able to observe as the African lions use their natural instincts to hunt for food.

Additional enrichment activities include an apple toss with the zoo’s African bull elephants, a view of the elephants and as sea lion splash shows. 

During the Fun Days, the zoo will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for extended summer hours.
