Zoo reaches new heights in attendance

by

The Birmingham Zoo, which recently earned an Association of Zoos and Aquariums accreditation, has seen an increase in foot traffic recently.

During October, the zoo had a total of 82,533 guests, which is a 15 percent increase from its 71,592 visitors during October 2015. The Zoo is attributing this increase to the success of its annual Boo at the Zoo event, which took place over several weekends during the month.

Now, thanks to the record-breaking attendance in October as well as earlier record attendance, the Zoo is set to break its all-time attendance record of 576,000 guests throughout the year, according to a press release. The record of attendance was set in 2015. Currently, the Zoo is paced to break the 600,000 mark for the year early in December.

To celebrate this achievement, the 600,000th guest to enter will receive a VIP day at the Zoo.
