Birmingham Zoo to host 'Party for the Planet' this Earth Day

The Birmingham Zoo will host a Party for the Planet on Earth Day, April 23.

From 10 a.m.-2 p.m. guests are invited to join the Zoo in celebrating the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ signature event — the largest combined Earth Day celebration in North America. Special activities, animal demonstrations and Shaeffer Eye Center Wildlife Shows will all be part of the event. Local businesses, including Alabama Mineral & Lapidary Society, Alabama Partners for Clean Air, Cahaba Riverkeeper, CommuteSmart Birmingham, Coosa Riverkeeper, Four Season Gallery, Red Mountain Park, University of Alabama — Tide for Tusks, World Discovery Safaris and others will also set up booths throughout the Zoo.

Special keeper talks and enrichments during the day, as well as crafts and activities will round out the day’s activities.

The event is free with paid admission to the Zoo.
