Birmingham Zoo announces 2016 Board of Directors and Officers

The Birmingham Zoo this month introduced its 2016 Board of Directors and Board Officers.

The Board, composed of 20 professionals in the Birmingham area, share the Zoo’s belief in “Inspiring Passion for the Natural World,” according to a Zoo news release. Paving the way in providing insight and innovative ideas as the Zoo moves toward the future is part of the Board’s progressive goal.

This year, the Board welcomes two new members, Doug Jones and Britt Redden.

The 2016 Board Officers are: Wally Nall III, Chairman; Cissy Jackson, Vice Chairman; James Priester, Treasurer; David Loper, Secretary; and Jesse Vogtle Jr., Immediate Past Chairman.

The newly announced Board of Directors: are Robert Aland, Leigh Collier, Jack Darnall, Robin Sparks Davis, Nancy Collat Goedecke, Gaynell H. Hendricks, Anna B. James, Doug Jones, Randall Jordan, Roddy McKinney, Laura Pitts, Britt Redden, Oliver Robinson, Jr., Thomas E. Sisson and Steven Spencer.

 “The Birmingham Zoo appreciates these individuals and their efforts for inspiring passion for the natural world. I am grateful for their continued support in helping Alabama’s must see attraction grow and in helping the Zoo expand and improve during our Capital Campaign,” said Dr. William R. Foster, President and CEO of the Birmingham Zoo.

In addition to announcing the new Board of Directors, the Zoo welcomes the newly elected Junior Board members, all of whom share a passion for the Zoo and its continued success. The officers are: Stephen Armstrong, President; Amanda Hawkins, Vice President; Lauren DeMoss, Secretary, Matthew Hottle, Treasurer; and Erin Donohoo, Past President, Advisor. The members are Rosemary Alexander, Ambre Amari, Frank Anderson, Bettina Boateng, Turner Burton, Courtney DeShazo, Joey Dumontier, Kathryn Gay, Joe Gribbin Jr., Raymond Harbert Jr., Fontaine Haskell, Tim Hennesey Jr., Julie Herring, Lexi Holdbrooks, J. Chris Mason, Madison Merrill, Amy O’Brien, Eve Toomey, Drew Weil, Dana N. Williams and Whitney Wright.
