In between local gigs and touring around the Southeast, Velouria is currently recording its new album with Mountain Brook alumnus Lester Nuby III, class of 1992.

The band began when guitarist and vocalist Michael Harp and Deanna Medina met at MBHS’s Relay for Life talent show in 2011 as Mountain Brook students. Since then, the band has transitioned from an acoustic coffee shop duo to to a five-person layered wall of sound, performing in venues such as the Forge, Bottletree, Avondale Brewery and Iron City Birmingham.

The band is scheduled to play in Birmingham Mountain Radio’s third annual Southbound Music Festival hosted by Avondale Brewery on Saturday, June 14 along with 12 other local bands on two stages. Tickets will be $10 at the door for an all-day pass.
