Each year Lynn Briggs travels overseas to capture the beauty of old and new.

She has been painting with water colors since her college days at the University of Alabama while majoring in art. Between teaching and raising three children, she was unable to paint as often as she liked.

“I would dabble a little but when you start you can’t stop, “she said.

It wasn’t until her youngest daughter, Lacey, now a Samford Alum, had started high school that Briggs truly began painting again.

Since then Briggs’ work has been featured in various art shows. Her watercolor paintings mainly reflect scenes from various trips she and her husband have taken to Europe.

This summer the couple is looking forward to celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary in Provence, France.

Briggs is also involved with Mountain Brook Community Education where she paints every Wednesday morning with other adult artists in the area.

Denaburg will be showing her work at the Mountain Brook Art Association 31st Annual Art Show.

This year's show will feature local artists including Viki Denaburg, Mary Mellen, and Barclay Gresham.
