UAB Associate Professor to give lecture on investing

Andreas Rauterkus, Ph.D., an Associate Professor in Accounting and Finance at the UAB Collat School of Business, will host a roundtable discussion on investing with short and long term goals Thursday, April 28.

Rauterkus’ talk will be part of the Emmet O’Neal Library’s Table Talks series on personal finance and investing, made possible by a grant from the FINRA Investor Education Foundation through Smart investing@your library®, a partnership with the American Library Association.

The event will begin at 6:30 p.m.

About Dr. Rauterkas

Dr. Rauterkas earned his Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Cincinnati. He also holds a M.B.A. from East Carolina University and an undergraduate/graduate degree in Finance and Banking from J.W. Goethe University in his native Frankfurt/Main, Germany. Dr. Rauterkus spent three years as a Finance instructor at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, he taught at Siena College in Loudonville, NY and is currently an assistant professor of finance at the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

His research interests are in financial institutions and corporate governance with an emphasis on conflict of interest situations in international banking. Further, Dr. Rauterkus possesses comparative knowledge of international banking systems and current trends especially with respect to European Union countries. Most recently, Dr. Rauterkus focused his research on small business lending, the impact of lender distance on loan performance and the role of credit unions.
