Brookwood Forest’s Ranger PTO held its first Brown Bag Series on Sept. 7.

Principal Nathan Pitner and Assistant Principal Christy Christian spoke to the audience about ways that STEM concepts will continue to impact the evolution of the learning process at BWF.

The session focused on what STEM means, but more importantly what STEM means to BWF in regard to the school’s beliefs of building relationships, student engagement and supporting teachers as learners.

The Brown Bag luncheon allowed deeper discussion beyond the usual buzzwords and jargon to discuss some benefits of the concept and opportunities being offered to Rangers in this area. Parents then experienced STEM activities as students. The level of problem solving, productive struggle and fun was eye-opening.

Mr. Pitner and Ms. Christian led the parents on a tour of the school, highlighting updates and projects completed over the past few months such as the new STEM area, the outdoor classroom and new technology being implemented throughout the building.

Efforts by the Brookwood Forest PTO provided funds for these spaces, which allow students and teachers opportunities to continue growing.
