Chiefs fill barrels to help end hunger

by

Cherokee Bend’s Chief PTO recently hosted a food drive to collect non-perishable food items for the Community Food Bank of Central Alabama. The bank partners with more than 225 other nonprofit agencies throughout the Birmingham local area.

With a goal to exceed last year’s record of 475 pounds of food, Food Drive Chair Libba Vaughan held a contest for each grade to fill their grade’s barrel. This part of the fundraiser raised awareness and created healthy competition, while promoting participation.
