Colonial Day at Cherokee Bend

On Oct. 12, fifth graders celebrated their second year of hosting the Colonial Fair at Cherokee Bend Elementary.

Over the course of the year, students study prehistoric times through the Civil War. Currently they are studying colonization after the Age of Exploration and the founding of the New World. Students have researched different colonies and their government, economy, trade, geography, etc. The students then created a colonial profiles.

The students traveled through five stations with their “family groups” to experience colonial life: lantern making, candle making, corn, colonial games and quilting.

Fifth grade teachers are Meredith Attar, Chad Haller, Amanda Milazzo and Hannah Peters.
