CES chooses a president and a mascot

On Friday, September 16, Crestline held elections for the student council president and the Crestline Cougar mascot. A record turnout brought five presidential candidates and nine mascot candidates, all from the sixth grade. This is the fifth year Crestline has had a mascot. The costume was purchased by Crestline’s sixth-grade Class of 2011-12 as their legacy.

The presidential candidates, Clark Stewart, Henry Tabb, Lily Papapietro, Ford Moffatt, and Miggy Grant each gave a speech before th student body. The nine anonymous mascot candidates each auditioned with a choreographed dance in the Cougar costume. Crestline students from the fourth through sixth grades took notes in the audience on the back of their ballots before turning in their votes.

Ford Moffatt, Crestline’s new student council president, won his audience with his desire to perform community service, his idea for a “Do Good” Award in honor of Mr. Jerome, and his slogan “Just Moff-It.”  Richard Monk, Crestline’s new Cougar, was wildly popular due to the “bottle-flipping” he incorporated into his dance routine.
