Crestline Elementary School recently welcomed a preschool classroom into the family. This program is modeled after the Special Opportunities Preschool Programs at Mountain Brook Elementary and Brookwood Forest, and is designed for children 3 to 5 years old who are eligible for special education services, as well as typically developing peer models.

Claire Lamkin is the teacher of the preschool class at CES. Claire has a BS and MA in early childhood special education from Auburn University and has taught special education at Crestline for the past six years.  Lankin’s amazing team includes Elizabeth Gwaltney, a speech and language pathologist, Amy Dern, an occupational therapist, and Lynn Spicer, an experienced educational support staff member. The class consists of 11 students, including three sets of twins.

“Lamkin’s Little Cougars,” as Lankin affectionately calls them, have already won the hearts of their new school family.
