Mountain Brook High School Band students interested in attending the 75th Anniversary Pearl Harbor Mass Band performance in Hawaii will have one more weekend to raise money for the trip as part of the ongoing KeyTag fundraiser. Money for the KeyTags or unsold tags must be returned Monday, Feb. 29.

KeyTags being sold by students help purchasers save money at a variety of local and national businesses. According to the band’s fundraiser page, KeyTags are $20 each. Profits from the sale will be applied directly to each student’s Hawaii trip account.

A few of the local deals available with the purchase of a KeyTag include:

The Mountain Brook High School Band will perform Dec. 7 at the 75th Anniversary of Pearl Harbor. The cost of trip per student is approximately $3,000. The band continues to hold a variety of fundraisers to help offset the costs per student.

Students will nation and Japan in a worldwide live webcast “Gift of Music” concert.

The trip to Hawaii will also include cultural and historical aspects of Hawaii’s “big island” including trips to Diamond Head volcano, a Polynesian Village, the Dole Plantation, and a tour of Eastern Oahu. Students will participate in activities in Honolulu and the Pearl Harbor Historic Site.

“Our students will perform on the deck of the Missouri, overlooking the Arizona Memorial,” said Jason Smith, Director of Bands at Mountain Brook High School in a release. “What an amazing opportunity to be a part of the historic celebration to honor the veterans of one of the most influential events in American and Japanese history.”
