MBHS presents Grease this weekend

Mountain Brook High School students are getting ready to bring “Summer Nights,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You” and “You Are the One that I Want” to the stage this weekend with a performance of Grease.

Centered around students attending the fictitious Rydell High School, Grease defines the new sense of freedom felt by Americans in the late 1950s. Increases in the standard of living, social upheaval, and development of amazing technologies planted the seeds of change that would eventually lead to unprecedented prosperity, the Civil Rights movement and placing a man on the moon. Teenage life and rebellion became fueled by cars, fast food, drive-in movies, and of course, rock ‘n’ roll music on their new transistor radios. They found themselves wireless and mobile, with money in their pocket.

Grease is a great show about friendship and the glory days of high school,” said Jesse Tilton, theatre director at Mountain Brook High School. “It has been wonderful to see the camaraderie that is present in the show transfer on and off stage. This cast is a great group of kids who have worked so hard on this performance, and I am very excited to share Grease with the community."
