This year’s class hosted a new member breakfast on Friday, May 4. They shared experiences, looked at this year’s city improvement projects, and discussed plans to continue projects such as Little Leader Day and the Humans of MB Instagram account.

One of the newest members of Leadership Mountain Brook, Eric Cordover, is “very excited to interact with the local government and make a positive impact on the community.” He applied for the program because he is always looking for an opportunity to make a difference in the Mountain Brook community.

As we welcome new members, the leadership class of 2018 reflect on their time in the program.

“My experience in LMB made me learn a lot about the city and how it works, and it also taught me lots of skills that people need in the future, such as public speaking, communicating via email, etc. It’s a great opportunity for high school students because it really prepares you for the future.” – Kate Brown

“The next class should have open eyes and an open heart. You never know which project will inspire you to choose a major in college, or come up with an idea that can positively influence the class. My one piece of advice would be fake it until you make it. I didn’t find it comfortable speaking in front of the city council or the chamber of commerce, but overtime you get more and more comfortable doing this. Before you know it, it’s no big deal.” – Alexis Kennedy

“My favorite memory in LMB was and will be meeting people I have never talked to and becoming close with them. Gaining new friends and having a class where you can learn with them was incredible.” – James Gillespy

“I’ll take away the confidence that all of those presentations gave me and the teamwork and communication skills that I’ve developed through this class.” – Virginia Williams

Please join us in welcoming the newest members of Leadership Mountain Brook class of 2019. We look forward to all they will accomplish in the coming year.
