Tennis with Ms. Terry

If you have ever driven past the Mountain Brook Elementary tennis courts after school, you have no doubt seen Terry Hamilton, better known as “Ms. Terry,” teaching tennis to students. She has been a fixture in the community for 28 years, teaching everyone from preschoolers to grandparents seven days a week on the courts at MBE, Overton Park, MBJH and MBHS.

Hamilton’s tennis career began at age 7 when she played on Brooke Hill School’s first tennis team. She moved on to play tennis at Sweet Briar College and has played on several teams in Birmingham, occasionally playing in tournaments.

These days she keeps tennis fun with events like “Crazy Mixed Up Day” at summer tennis camps, where students dress as silly as they want.
