Two Highlands School teacher were honored with Barnes & Noble’s “My Favorite Teacher” award for local teachers. Susan Armstrong won in the grades one to five category. Bo Garrett won in the grades six to eight category.

The teachers were nominated by students Lincoln Sorcher and Ada Cohen. The students nominated their teacher by writing essays, poems or thank you letters that share how their teacher has influenced their life and why they appreciate and admire their teacher.

Armstrong and Garrett will be recognized at an event at the Summit Barnes & Noble, where they will receive a special award acknowledging their achievement, a set of Sterling Children’s Classics books for their personal or classroom library, and additional recognition and praise from the community.

Armstrong and Garret will advance into the regional competition and could potentially go on to be Barnes & Noble’s “National Teacher of the Year.”
