Highlands students chosen as semi-finalists in "Letters About Literature" Competition

Four Highlands School Middle School students, Mary Frances Lembke, Megan Seidel, Anna Lisa Goodman, and Ada Cohen, were chosen as semi-finalists in the "Letters About Literature" Competition.

In order to compete, students wrote to authors explaining how the authors' works made an impact on their own lives. This is an annual, nation-wide competition for middle and high school students. These four students were chosen as the semi-finalists for the Alabama state competition. More than six-hundred letters were mailed from all over the state.

A ceremony honoring all award winners was held in Tuscaloosa at the University of Alabama on April 7.
