TEDxYouth@MBJH hosts TEDxYouth event

Collins Clegg.

The second annual TEDxYouth@MBJH event was held at Mountain Brook Junior High on Sunday, May 8.

This independently organized event, licensed by TED, featured local voices and TED videos under the theme of "Dream of Things that Never Were."  The auditorium was full of students of all ages, parents, educators, community members, community leaders, local businesses and TEDxYouth@MBJH partners.

The talks were streamed and watched globally.

The TEDx programs were launched in 2009 as locally organized events intended to bring the community together to share a TED-like experience. TEDxYouth@MBJH was designed for students at Mountain Brook Junior High to share their "ideas worth spreading."  Each idea comes from a place of deep reflection and personal experience.  Moreover, each idea is designed to change the world, whether its impact is as small as shifting one person's perspective, or as large as altering the way our society approaches an issue.

What makes TEDxYouth@MBJH a special TEDxYouth event is that it is student created, organized and led.  From the theme, to the event's audio visual needs to the interactive breakout sessions, the students worked to create a quality event.
