The Alabama High School Athletic Association announced the completion of reclassification for 2016-2018 on Wednesday.

Reclassification takes place every two years, and the last cycle produced the addition of Class 7A. There was some speculation that 7A may add on to the 32 teams already in place, but that number remained.

In football, Spain Park, Hoover, Oak Mountain, Mountain Brook, and Vestavia Hills all remained in Class 7A, Region 3, along with Thompson and Tuscaloosa County. The only change is Huffman's jump to 7A, Region 3, pushing Hewitt-Trussville to Region 4.

The biggest change comes in all other sports, as the Spartans are joined in Area 6 by Spain Park, Oak Mountain, and Huffman. Vestavia Hills moved to Area 5, essentially swapping with Oak Mountain. Hewitt-Trussville moved to Area 7.
