Mountain Brook rolls over Hewitt in boys, girls hoops

The Class 7A second-ranked Mountain Brook Spartans steamrolled past host Hewitt-Trussville 70-38 in boys high school basketball action Tuesday night.

The Spartans (18-4, 3-0 Area 6) forced 26 turnovers, including 16 steals, and had 16 assists in the victory.

Terrell Guy led the Spartans with 13 points. Jack Kline and Jared Henderson added nine points apiece and Henderson added seven rebounds.

In the girls game, Sara Carr scored 22 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead the Lady Spartans to an easy 62-42 win over the Lady Huskies. Abby Garrett chipped in 10 points and eight boards for the Lady Spartans (14-8, 2-1).

Both the boys and girls tteams will be in action Friday night, Jan. 16, when they travel to Vestavia Hills for area games.
