Spartans, Jags in televised area showdown

The Mountain Brook boys and girls basketball teams have area showdowns with Spain Park on Friday night, Jan. 9 at Spartan Arena.

The Spartans boys (16-4) slipped from the top spot in this week’s Alabama Sports Writers Association poll to No. 2 behind McGill-Toolen. They will face Spain Park (17-2), which moved to No. 4 in the poll. The Class 7A, Area 6 boys varsity game tips off at 7:30 p.m. It will be televised by WABM My-68.

The Lady Spartans (13-8) take on the Lady Jaguars (14-6) at 6 p.m. Neither team is in the Top 10, but each is receiving votes.
