Mountain Brook stays in Class 7A, Region 3 play Friday night when the Spartans entertain Oak Mountain at Spartan Stadium on Friday.

The Spartans (2-4, 1-3) are coming off a thrilling 17-16 win over Tuscaloosa County. The win gave coach Chris Yeager his 100th career win and his 75th at Mountain Brook.

Mason Dillard's 30-yard field goal with no time on the clock lifted the Spartans to the win and snapped a four-game skid.

Sophomore quarterback Hamp Sisson led his first career game-winning drive, moving the offense 63 yards on two plays and two personal foul penalties. Sisson first hit Sims Herron on a 19-yard pass, which had a roughing the passer penalty tacked on to push the Spartans across midfield. Sisson then added a 19-yard first-down run to set up the first field goal attempt with 5.3 to play. Sisson finished the game with 123 yards of total offense, including 6-of-10 passing for 63 yards.

Harold Joiner led Mountain Brook’s ground game with 64 yards on 19 carries, while Joe Donald and Will Wetzler led the defense with 13 and seven tackles, respectively.

Oak Mountain (2-4, 1-3) fell to Hewitt-Trussville 38-31 as the Eagles continue to struggle to match last season's success. Quarterback Warren Shader, however, is the Eagle to watch. Against Hewitt, Shader racked up 237 yards of total offense and four touchdowns. Coleman Reeves added 81 yards on the ground and a score.

Mountain Brook holds a 6-3 edge in the series. Oak Mountain won last year 27-24.
