Spartans lose state playoff hopes, send player to All-Star team

The Mountain Brook Spartans football team lost 19-0 to Spain Park last Friday to end its hopes for a state playoff berth. The Spartans (3-5, 3-4 Class 7A, Region 3) closes the regular season at Huffman on Friday at 7 p.m. at Huffman's new stadium at the high school on Springville Road.

Mountain Brook senior quarterback Jacob Carroll has been selected to the Alabama All-Star team for the 28th annual Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Football Game to be played Dec. 13 at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
