Spartans rally for semifinal win; Lady Spartans lose

The Mountain Brook Spartans trailed underdog Huntsville High but poured it on to pull away for a 61-42 win in a Class 7A Northeast Regional semifinal victory Thursday at Jacksonville State University.

The Spartans (25-7), aiming for a third straight state championship, were paced by Hunter Lucas' 14 points. Huntsville ended its season 9-22.

Mountain Brook will face the winner of Gadsden City and Vestavia Hills in the region final Tuesday in Jacksonville. 

The Lady Spartans weren't so fortunate, losing to top-ranked Huntsville 66-40. Sara Carr led Mountain Brook with 11 points.
