After a thrilling opening win over Huntsville, the Mountain Brook Spartans have found the going rough.

Four straight losses isn't something the Spartans or their coach Chris Yeager is used to.

They get a solid chance at getting back into the win column with a game against winless Tuscaloosa County in Northport on Friday.

Kickoff is 7 p.m.

The Spartans are liking their wounds after a 51-14 loss at fourth-ranked James Clemens. Now they step back into Class 7A, Region 3 play with the Wildcats (0-5, 0-3). Tuscaloosa County has scored just three touchdowns in their past three games, the final loss a 35-7 whipping from Class 6A Hillcrest.

Still, after the loss at James Clemens, Yeager was concerned with his team, not his upcoming opponent.

“My focus right now is on Mountain Brook. (Tuscaloosa County is) a good football team. They have good athletes. This region is not very forgiving,” Yeager said. “We need to bounce back and see who can continue to play and who can bounce back. We’re both in similar situations and one is going to make a turn at the middle of the season.”
