Volleyball named to Elite Eight

The Mountain Brook volleyball team earned a spot in next week's Elite Eight state championships at the CrossPlex, defeating Hoover 3-1 in the finals of the Class 7A North Super Regionals in Huntsvillle on Thursday.

The Lady Spartans clinched a berth when they knocked off Huntsville in the first round. For good measure, they topped No. 1 Bob Jones to advance to the final, where they knocked off the second-ranked Bucs. Both Mountain Brook and Hoover will advance to Birmingham.

The team will play Fairhope in the first round of the state tournament Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 11 a.m. at the Birmingham Crossplex. If they win that match, the Spartans will advance to the semifinals at 5:30 p.m. that evening. Check villagelivingonline.com for updates.
