Six kids reached the finals and four won state titles for the Mountain Brook Youth wrestling club at the state tournament in Moody on February 6.

Davis Smith (55 pound, 6U), Wyatt Chavez (45 pound, 8U), Jude Smith (75 pound, 8U), and Gray Ortis (80 pound, 12U) all won championships in their division. The boys are coached by Marcus Brimley, Oz Chavez, and head coach Josh Lovelady.

Throughout the state, 16 teams were represented, with over 300 wrestlers participating in the tournament.

Mountain Brook sent 18 participants to the tournament, the most it has ever seen participate in the event, while 39 wrestled throughout the season.

Mountain Brook youth wrestling is open to all kids from kindergarten through sixth grade, and the season runs from October through February.
