As our country geared up for the Presidential election, Cherokee Bend joined in by holding its own version — a mock election.
Election chairs Ginny Webb and Laurie Fuentes and their committee handled all of the details for the event.
As students arrived at school on Nov. 1, they were greeted by safety patrol members wearing red, white and blue hats to kick off the day. Banners in the same colors decorated the entry to the auditorium.
The school auditorium itself was set up to look just like a voting poll. Students filed in by class and showed the ID cards they had made earlier in the week.
They each received a ballot and had the opportunity to cast their votes. After voting, students participated in a discussion about the election process in the United States.
