The Class 7A No. 1 Mountain Brook boys basketball team opened area play with a 53-47 win over Vestavia Hills on Tuesday. The Spartans (16-4, 1-0 Area 6) used their patented press to force 25 turnovers, 13 on steals. Terrell Guy led the way with 15 points and seven steals. Hunter Lucas added 10 points. The Rebels fell to 8-8, 0-2.
